Around here the holiday spirit seems to build itself, with cozy fires, fluffy snow and TV specials. This doesn’t mean you can’t add to the magical feeling by decorating! There is a huge array of decorating supplies and ideas out there, and it can seem a bit overwhelming, but all you have to do is decide what look you’re going for, and then chose the right decorations.
Create a classical look with white lights, traditional decorations, and use colors such as silver, white and blue. Bring the inside out by decorating with pine cones and fallen branches. For a more festive, decked out look, use color lights, seasonal candy dishes and tablecloths, garlands and wreaths, colors such as red and green, and put out a gingerbread house, elf on a shelf or mensch on a bench!
No matter what holiday you’re celebrating this season, there are always new ways to decorate your home, inside and out. Just remember to keep the look consistent and own and be proud of what you do.
Work has been underway at Eaglebrook School! Our crew is installing custom cut granite steps from Vermont Stone Art LLC which are being set in mortar from SPEC MIX, Inc. Trees from Select Horticulture in Lancaster, Massachusetts and Amherst Nurseries are being put in using planting soil mix from Agresource Inc.
The University of Vermont Alumni House was built in 1892 and is 18,000 square feet. Recently a 2,600 square foot addition was put on and we were hired to do the landscaping. Around the addition we installed bluestone mortared patios and stair treads as well as granite steps. We also did a brick paver patio and walkway with alumni names etched into the bricks. Around both the new addition and the original building we installed tree, shrub and perennial plantings. Despite the age of the architecture, this recently renovated building is now looking as lively and welcoming as ever.
Work at Champlain College is almost complete! We put in English Edge Heavy clay pavers from Pine Hall where giant concrete slabs used to be and installed some plantings. The colors of the pavers are Buff and Rose which compliment the surrounding plants and buildings. With the new CCM building looking great it was time to update some other areas of campus.
Members of our Vermont Landscaping crew spent several hours loading and tarping Maple trees for the new New England Federal Credit Union in St. Albans, VT. The trees were shipped from a grower in Ohio to our Vermont shop earlier this week & they are beautiful! A truck load of Birches were already delivered to the St. Albans, VT site.
Hardy Fall Mums and Cabbage were planted at the Harpoon Brewery in Windsor, VT yesterday, by our Vermont landscape company. The planters were installed just in time for their annual Octoberfest on October 12 & 13 for 12:00-6:00!
Fall is here! The Landshapes Estate Maintenance crew and one of our Landscape Designers, installed the seasonal Fall planters at the Hilton Hotel in downtown Burlington, VT last week.
Hotel Vermont’s Green Roof was installed by our Vermont landscaping company at the end of March. Just 5 months after the Burlington, Vermont installation both roofs have filled in nicely. The Sedum on the lower roof is colorful and thriving and the more substantial shrub and perennial planting on the upper roof looks great too!
Hotel Vermont's sign planting in downtown Burlington Vermont, was designed and installed by our Vermont Landscaping company. The stone veneer on the sign was installed by the Landshapes Stonemasons as well.
